Community Blogger   Reader submitted blog Is there anything NOT closing in Milwaukee right now?
Just wondering, because the last few days I read that Shag is closed, Atomic Records is closing, Tequila 'Rita's is closed ect...was Broad Vocabulary saved? Is there anything opening at all?  Or is solid enough to withstand this economy?

Community Blogger   Reader submitted blog I thought bars did well in a bad economy?
I've been bartending since I was 18, for 9 years now. Since I graduated from college, I only bartend once a week in addition to my "day" job. I love the extra money and it is a great way to socialize and meet cool people. Lately though it seems like things have slowed down. It is unders...

Community Blogger   Reader submitted blog Milwaukee...Where's the Soul?
I have been living in Milwaukee for 5 years now and I must say while there is a lot of potential in Milwaukee I am disappointed with the bar scene. I am a fan of neosoul music, R&B, and the Blues, but where can I find that in Milwaukee? Like most African-Americans here we would like to g...

Community Blogger   Reader submitted blog The Harp
Surprised and glad to see positive ink on the Harp's food. Used to be burgers and more burgers. New barman Greg will be happy to play his Ringo Starr collection for you. Have a Guinness and welcome to the Octopuss' Garden.

Community Blogger   Reader submitted blog The Alchemist Theatre
Recently opened as a theatre and lounge, the Alchemist Theatre became an instant hit to watch refreshingly original theatrical hits on a stage that transformed itself like a chamelion in a rainbow of color.  The lounge is intoxicating and embraces creativity.  Kirk Thomsen, Profess...

Community Blogger   Reader submitted blog Hockey Bars
It feels like I'm one of the few people in this town that likes hockey.  And by like I mean love without question.  Hockey is the best professional sport by far, hands down. But I would love to be able to watch my beloved Flyers (or really any other game) at a bar from time to time...

Community Blogger   Reader submitted blog Local Music Scene......What do you want to see Milwaukee??
I just noticed the reader poll asking about local music in Milwaukee and the results are less than flattering.  Since I am involved in the local music scene at a couple different locations, a couple of bands and a couple of events; I thought I would open up a forum here to ask Milwaukee for ...

Community Blogger   Reader submitted blog Out of sorts
There is a certain bar on the eastside, that whenever anyone mentions going there, I cringe. This bar's reputation is less than stellar. I"ve heard countless stories of women going there and having the date rape drug slipped into their drinks. Now for legal reasons I can not divu...

34386   Reader submitted blog Composure vs. 'Cougar' an Article on Being a Single Woman
No time to edit today! The article seemed rather surface-oriented and barbaric. To 'prey' on someone because of the 'looks', seems rather antiquated or even cro-magnum. I prefer to make them do stunts. More on that later.....in just a moment. First for example, if I am considering a new mate...

34592   Reader submitted blog Cafe Centraal - Bay View
Cafe Centaal is very spacious and inviting.  Their staff is pleasant (and can take and dish out some razzing).  The lighting is mellow and non-abrasive. And although the smoking section is just across the room, you cannot see nor smell the smoke from the non-smoking section.I personally...

Reader poll
Would you rather suffer through a December of sub-zero temperatures and blizzards or a first-round playoff loss at the hands of Brett Favre?
I'll take the Ice Age and a Packers win.
I'd rather see the Packers lose to Favre so I can stay warm.
This is like choosing the least painful way to die.
