What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published Aug. 8, 2007 at 11:30 a.m.

The last time Tone Loc hit a Milwaukee stage he was on the "Club MTV" Tour at Summerfest. Loc was featured with Was Not Was, Lisa Lisa, Paula Abdul, Information Society, Milli Vanilli and of course, Downtown Julie Brown and the "Club MTV Dancers." I was there, admittedly juvenilely drunk and somewhat oblivious to the lip synch fest happening on the Marcus Amphitheater stage. Managing editor Bobby Tanzilo was there, too, having been assigned to review it.

I remember many things about that night. First, during "Blame it on the Rain," the backing track skipped forcing Milli and Vanilli (or whatever their real names are) backstage. It should have been a sign of future Grammy revocations to come.

Was (not Was), was actually pretty good and probably was a bit too good for the bill. And, then there was Tone Loc. He came out in a huge gin bottle and busted out "Funky Cold Medina," "Wild Thing" and other tracks from his "Loc-ed After Dark." Dude owned the stage and was truly enjoying his place in the music world. Ah, the early 90s!

Tone is back and on Saturday night, thanks to Cans, 1815 E. Kenilworth Pl., he'll rock Milwaukee and the East Side once again. It's Cans' big three-year anniversary bash and the bar will have a big outdoor stage on which Mr Loc plays at 9 p.m., DJs open at 6 p.m.

Stop by, get your photo taken by the OMC crew and be sure to ask Loc about "Celebrity Fit Club," Paula Abdul and whatever else is on your '90s mind.
