Don't think just because the smoke has cleared from the Big Gig, summer music is dead in Milwaukee. Today, Peter Jest announces a string of new summer bookings at Shank Hall, 1434 N. Farwell Ave.

Among them are:

Local boy Mike Mangione, who is making inroads nationally, plays on Friday, Aug. 8 at 9 p.m. Cover is $10

Award-winning Twin Cities rockers Sick of Sarah return in the wake of the release of their self-titled debut on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 8 p.m. Admission is $10.

Lefty bluesman Coco Montoya brings his band to Shank on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Damien Dempsey plays Thursday, Sept. 4 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

Blues gal Shannon Curfman, meanwhile, takes the stage on Saturday, Sept. 13. Another Minnesota blues guitarist, Bernard Allison -- son of Luther -- plays Friday, Sept. 26. Both shows are at 8 and cost $15.

In the interim, on Tuesday, Sept. 23, Leon Redbone plays at 8 p.m. and cover for the smoke-free show is $25.

Canadian singer and songwriter Ron Sexsmith is locked in for a $15, 8 p.m. gig on Sept. 28, a Sunday.

Further out, Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers play Saturday, Oct. 18, Melissa Ferrick plays the next night and The Gourds play Friday, Nov. 7. All shows start at 8 p.m. and cost $15.
