Musical group Foo Fighters asked Milwaukee cellist Janet Schiff to audition for a live performance at the Grammy Awards on Feb. 10. The contest is open to the public, but Schiff received a special e-mail encouraging her to submit footage.

Representatives of the Grammys will pick three musicians to perform the song "The Pretender." The first round of voting starts on Jan. 25 at 11 p.m. and goes until Feb. 1. Round two starts on Feb. 4.

You can check out Schiff's playing through the links below. Schiff encourages people to visit the contest site now, make a positive comment if you feel inclined, and return to vote on Jan. 25 (after 11 p.m.)

"Positive comments will move an entrant such as myself into the semi-finals," says Schiff. "The judges are already watching."

Stay tuned to OnMilwaukee.com for more information about this contest.
