In a recent OnMilwaukee.com brief, we told you that Milwaukee cellist Janet Schiff was asked to audition via YouTube to perform with musical group Foo Fighters at the upcoming Grammy Awards. Unfortunately, she was not chosen to perform with them.
"Don't look for me on the Grammys," reads an e-mail from Schiff. "The official word: I will be fashionably not there. The Grammy committee and Foo Fighters have chosen other cellists. Better ones? Yes. More determined? Unlikely."
However, the good news is that 1,900 people visited her Web site and an orchestra in Atlanta asked permission to perform two of her pieces, "Sonata" and "War Tango."
"I am in the process of notating for them," says Schiff.
