Milwaukee singer/songwriter Willy Porter is featured in a new television spot for Madison-based Goodwill Industries of South Central Wisconsin, Inc.
Porter, who gained much of his early popularity playing gigs in Madison, recorded a new song, "The Give Song," and performed in a music video-like television spot for the organization.
Goodwill Industries of South Central Wisconsin, Inc. explains the relationship on its Web site, "When you give to Goodwill of South Central Wisconsin, good things can happen for people with disadvantages in your very own community. That's the message behind "The Give Song" -- our exciting new fundraising campaign featuring national recording artist Willy Porter. See the TV commercial, learn our mission in the lyrics, and discover new reasons to give."
In his regular e-newsletter Porter says, "It is a great organization of talented and self-less folks committed to the betterment of our communities."
Goodwill Industries of South Central Wisconsin, Inc. opened in Madison in 1962.
Porter is currently on the Holiday Train tour in Canada. He comes back home in January for a benefit concert for the Wisconsin for Advocates of Ozaukee, a regional women's crisis center. Tickets for the Jan. 6 show at the Cedarburg Cultural Center are available at (262) 284-3577.
