Sound Pass: Pezzettino

More than a year has passed since OnMilwaukee.com's Bobby Tanzilo first profiled Pezzettino -- aka Margaret Stutt -- maestra of the piano, accordion and straightforward songwriting.

Pezzettino's song "Parasite," which was featured on her second CD, "Lion," even made its way onto "OMCD_03.0," OnMilwaukee.com's third compilation disc featuring Milwaukee music.

Recently, our friends from Mindpool Live caught up with Pezzettino for their "Sound Pass" series. The interview, which took place at Hot Pop in the Historic Third Ward, centers on her songwriting style, the transition to the accordion and what's coming next for this talented musician.

Maybe you`ve noticed Pezzettino has been silent lately. And maybe you`ve seen ZETI all over Twitter. It`s not coincidence. Erstwhile Milwaukeean and current Brooklynite Margaret Dearden has laid Pezzettino to rest and is preparing to release her first ZETI digital EP next month.

2011 bar changes

Milwaukee`s a tavern town, so while some places endure for decades, many bars tend to come and go in the course of a year. Sometimes the changes are so numerous that it feels nearly impossible to keep up. To help you get up to speed, here are some of the changes in the Milwaukee scene in 2011.

Do a "shot-ski"

Art Altenburg`s Concertina Bar drew hundreds of polka dancers every weekend. When Andy Kochanski bought the bar just over four years ago, he reopened as Kochanski`s Concertina Beer Hall - a classic Milwaukee polka bar with a modern twist.

Pezzettino's opus

Margaret Stutt, the Milwaukee musician now based in Brooklyn that we all call Pezzettino has been nothing if not industrious, releasing a slew of CDs in just a few years. Now, she says, her "dark fear concept album" has reached the mixing stage and will appear soon.
