Hey music lovers. No shortage of good bands to see this week, and Brent and I have compiled a codpaste to prove it. Let the downloading commence.
The Uptown Savages is one of the many bands playing this year's Maxfest, a local music festival organized by Bill Brunke. It kicks off Thursday night at Points East Pub -- which I'll tell you about two paragraphs from now -- and closes with Milwaukee's infamous rockabillies, the Savages, at Club Garibaldi on Saturday, July 21. The show begins at 10 p.m. with Tim Cook & the Downtown Gentlemen.
If you're reading this on Tuesday, July 17, be sure to catch the Chinese Telephones live on WMSE tonight at 8 p.m. If you can't catch the spot, listen to the live track we play or go see the band live at Linemann's Riverwest Inn on Thursday, July 19.
Milwaukee's On a Sun is seemingly all over the place these days. If you missed them at Summerfest a few weeks ago, catch them kicking off Maxfest 2007 at Points East Pub on Thursday with The Good Luck Joes. Doors open at 9 p.m.
Closing this week's Codpaste Podcast is a newly formed, fantastic band called Big Fun. We found "Speed of Sound" online and decided you must here it before the band takes the stage at The Mad Planet this Saturday, opening for two other Milwaukee greats, The Barettes and Juniper Tar.
