Here is a statement released today by Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin on the lakefront:
"At the request of Les Paul's family, Discovery World will host a public viewing for Les Paul this week. The public event will be held on Friday, Aug. 21, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Discovery World's doors will open at 9 a.m. on Friday. Discovery World is located at 500 N. Harbor Dr. in Milwaukee.
"Members of the public are invited to come and pay their respects to Mr. Paul who passed away last week at the age of 94. Mr. Paul will lie "in repose" in a closed casket in the Discovery World Promenade on Friday.
"Visitors will be able to post their remembrances of Les Paul and thoughts for the family at Discovery World. "Les Paul's House of Sound" exhibit will be free and open to the public during the service. Discovery World will also show Les Paul's final Wisconsin concert in 2008 from The Pabst Theater as part of the tribute.
"The visitation and tribute at Discovery World will be held prior to a private family service at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.
"In lieu of flowers or other memorials, well wishers are encouraged to make contributions to the Les Paul Foundation located at 236 W. 30th St., 7th floor, New York, N.Y., 10001."
