Stonefly Brewery hosts the Milwaukee regional showcase Friday, April 25 as part of the Cosmic Break Tour. Basically, local bands are invited to submit music to the Cosmic Break Tour Web site, and five finalists will compete at Stonefly to win a paid gig at the 10,000 Lakes Festival, held July 23-26, in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
The final date to upload music is Mar. 23, and it's free.
About 20,000 people attend the 10,000 Lakes Festival every year. It's held in rural Minnesota at the scenic Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes. Artists have yet to be announced for 2008, but past performers have included Widespread Panic, Trey Anastasio, John Mayer, Phil Lesh & Friends, Bob Weir & RatDog, The Black Crowes and The Allman Brothers Band, among hundreds of others.
The winning artists receive $500 for their festival performance, along with complimentary camping and select meals for each performing member. Travel and lodging costs are not provided.
