Cascio Interstate Music, 13819 W. National Ave. in New Berlin, isn't exactly a smoky jazz club, but it might feel a bit like one Saturday, Nov. 18 when it hosts the second annual HornFest from 11 a.m. on.
The event kicks off with the New Berlin Eisenhower High School Jazz Band and quickly heats up when trumpeter Brian Lynch -- a Milwaukee boy who lives and works in New York -- leads a clinic at noon.
Saxman Chris Vadala (of Chuck Mangione's band) follows at 1, Tom "Bones" Malone (from Letterman's band)) at 3 and Bela Fleck's Jeff Coffin at 4. The Pius XI High School Jazz Band plays at 2 p.m. and there's a jam session at 5 p.m. to close out the program. There will be Q&A and autograph sessions with the talent and more.
"This is the third in a series of events sponsored by Cascio Interstate Music in our company's continuing effort in the community, helping provide the Milwaukee area with world-renowned performances in a free clinic-style setting," said CEO Michael Houser. "And we're proud to do this in our own hometown."
The event is free and open to all.
