Daniel Holter and Mike Standal of The Burst Collective in Wauwatosa have a song in the new "Sex and the City" film.

The tune is an instrumental version of a song called "Fall," that the duo wrote for and recorded a few years ago with Milwaukee singer Marcella Mortellaro. Mortellaro, whose father owns Angelo's Lounge, just off Brady Street, has since left the city. The vocal version of "Fall," appeared on OnMilwaukee.com's "OMCD_02.0" Milwaukee music sampler in 2006.

"It's been a couple of years, but we love Marcella's voice, and we had her play our Burst Records showcase event at Tosa Fest two summers ago," says Holter of the original project. "I think she's in Nashville now. We've been trying to wrap up her project but life has conspired against us."

Holter says his friend Tanvi Patel of Crucial Music placed the song in the film, which stars Sarah Jessica Parker.

Not surprisingly, Holter and Standal -- who also released a disc as the group Eggshell -- are excited about the inclusion of the song, even if such events are hardly rare for the duo, which also wrote a song called "I Wanna Be" for Emma Roberts' debut disc. Roberts is the daughter of actor Eric Roberts and niece of Julia Roberts.

"I really wish they'd have used the vocal version, as I think it's amazing," says Holter. "I think Marcella's voice is stunning."

Holter isn't sure whether or not the song will make the "Sex and the City" soundtrack CD, but...

"My fingers hurt from crossing them so hard," he says.
