UWM's Union Theatre, on the second floor of the student union, 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd., celebrates the start of the new semester with a week-long series of films that are free and open to the general public.
Starting with the Coen Brothers' "No Country For Old Men" at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27 and ending with Michel Gondry's "Be Kind Rewind" on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 3 and 4 at 7 p.m., the series features nightly screenings of flicks both recent and not-so.
Paul Thomas Anderson's "There Will Be Blood" shows at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28; And 2008 rench film "Persepolis" runs at 7 on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 29 and 30.
Sofia Coppola's great "Lost in Translation" screens at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30. "The Big Lebowski" runs Sunday, Aug. 31 at 9 p.m. and, finally, Greg Araki's weed-fueled comedy, "Smiley Face," shows at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31 and Tuesday, Sept. 2.
There is no film on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1.
