Key Sunday Cinema Club offers sneak peeks
According to the L.A.-based Key Sunday Cinema Club's Web site:
"Since 1992, The Key Sunday Cinema Club has distinguished itself as the nation's premiere sneak-preview film society, showcasing the best in international and independent cinema always before local commercial release."
The club came to Milwaukee for the first time in 2007 and it begins its second season on Sept. 16 at Landmark's Oriental Theatre.
The club screens movies at 10 a.m. on seven Sundays through the end of the year. You don't know what films you'll see until you get there. But the club promises they'll be great ones, or at least interesting ones.
Among the films shown during the inaugural spring season were "The Lives of Others," "The Namesake," "Amazing Grace" and "After the Wedding."
Fall screenings are Sept. 16, Oct. 7 and 21, Nov. 4 and 18, and Dec. 2 and 16.
And after each screening, Patrice Petro -- Professor of Film Studies and English at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she also serves as senior international officer for the campus -- and Gilberto Blasini -- Assistant Professor of Film Studies (he is also director of the Film Studies Program) and English at the UWM -- will moderate discussions.
Membership is $99 (or $95 if you pay by check instead of credit card). For complete details visit the club's Web site; the link is below.
