In May 2007, I reported that Vintage, a wine shop, opened at a former New World Wine location at 632 E. Ogden Ave. Today, I'm here to write that after only one year that shop, too, has closed.
Frankly, I think it just didn't differentiate itself enough from the East Pointe Pick 'N Save and Metro Market shops in the neighborhood.
In other "wine" news, the space that New World Wine once occupied in the Historic Third Ward, 322 N. Water St., is available for lease. For a while, a marketing firm occupied the space, but it has since moved its operations to another floor of the building.

You are exactly right. They did nothing to distinguish themselves from Metro Market. They carried the same wines at usually slightly higher prices. The staff was nice but I had no complaints about the staff at New World either. I don't think Vintage really asked why New World failed in that space. They just moved in thinking they could do well as long as they didn't have that huge space in the Third Ward which doomed New World. They did nothing to differ themselves from New World.

Sad, the people there were always so friendly and helpful with my beer selections. The best part of the place besides the everyday wine tastings was that they let me bring my dog in!
