Van's Fine Men's Shoe Shop, in The Shops of Grand Avenue at 631 N. Plankinton Ave., is moving to West Allis, where it will reopen at 7316 W. Greenfield Ave.
"Van's shoes will be moving locations at the end of September to pursue a new business opportunity for his products. The owner has mentioned that he could always look to The Shops of Grand Avenue in the future to reopen this location," said Erica E. Anderson, Director of Marketing and Specialty Leasing for the Downtown mall.
According to news reports, Larry Reese, owner and manager of Van's Fine Men's Shoe Shop Downtown, pleaded guilty in February to a fraud scheme involving Allen-Edmonds shoes. He was placed on five years' probation and was ordered to pay restitution of $181,916 to Allen-Edmonds. Van's, at one point, was one of eight independent retailers in Wisconsin who sold Allen-Edmonds shoes.
In other, and brighter Shops of Grand Avenue news, Anderson says that the center "should have an announcement in the next month for the Linen's N Things space."

Van's was a mens dress shoe store. Not the same as Van's (off the wall) skater shoes. Looks like no one is going to make that mistake anymore.
