Urban Accents, an artsy gifts and home design store in the Third Ward, has moved to Bayshore Town Center.
The store, that opened three years ago at 159 N. Broadway, has leased space in the inside portion of Bayshore with another Third Ward store, Stephanie Horne. Stephanie Horne, though, will not close its Third Ward store.
Owner Nancy Rappaport says, "We will be open for business tomorrow, Saturday, and it's been a very long week! I did close my Third Ward location. It was a very difficult decision for me, I truly love that neighborhood. After three years it became clear that I wouldn't be able to stay in business if I didn't find a location with more traffic, so I made the move to Bayshore."
By sharing the space, Rapport hopes to blend fashion and home design and hit the density of mall shoppers in Glendale. "Stephanie and I are sharing the space at Bayshore, creating a unique combination of woman's clothing and contemporary home accents/art. Stephanie Horne Boutique in the Third Ward will remain open, Bayshore is a second location for her," she said.
What can you expect at the new store? "Shoppers can expect to find a truly enjoyable experience at Stephanie Horne/ Urban Accents. I will be expanding my jewelry selection as well as adding handbags, while maintaining a great selection of handcrafted art from all over the United States. Stephanie will continue to provide a great choice of contemporary woman's clothing, as well as selections from Stephanie Horne Rack, boutique brands marked from 40 to 60 percent off retail," said Rappaport.

Malls want to be cities. Shopping center landlords looking to fill space vacated by national retailers would be wise to think locally, according to a sampling of retail real estate brokers. Everything old is new again, said John Bemis, director of leasing and development for the retail group at Jones Lang LaSalle. Were looking more toward local and regional merchants. We are looking at alternative uses, such as colleges and universities that are opening satellite campuses, [or] municipal offices making the mall a community center and [creating] the ability to perform multiple functions while youre at the shopping center.
