In early 2008, I wrote an article about thINK Conscious Apparel, an organic, fair trade / fair labor apparel company started by husband-and-wife duo, Kevin Ristow and Deneen Winchester-Ristow.
Now, the small company has a new product line, and proceeds from sales will go to the Milwaukee Community Service Corps (MCSC) to help with initiatives to clean up Lake Michigan and area rivers.
thINK's new line features eco-friendly T-shirts for men and women made from 70 percent bamboo and 30 percent organic cotton, produced with fair-labor practices and without chemicals or pesticides. All garments are screen printed locally by hand through an environmentally friendly printing process.
MCSC is a nationally recognized urban youth corps that integrates education, experiential work projects and skill development to improve the physical landscape and social fabric of the region. Disadvantaged young adults between the ages of 14 and 23 lead a variety of initiatives to preserve, conserve and restore water quality throughout the Great Lakes.
