How many times have you heard someone exclaim "I love Target!" or say they can't get out of the place without spending $100? I hear this conversation -- even partake in it -- probably a half-dozen times a year.
And it's true: I do love Target. In fact, I wish I were there right now, blissfully pushing my plastic red cart through the clothing aisle, thinking to myself, "I'm going to cruise over to the frame aisle next."
But now I'm wondering if there's anyone who dislikes Target? I can't imagine it, but surely, someone in the city of Milwaukee must find Target something other than the Mecca of retail therapy? Right?
Target haters, come hither, and tell us why you can't stand the place!

Typically I love Target... except this one time I coincidentally had a red shirt and khakis on when I decided to go for a pleasant shopping experience. After the THIRD fellow shopper asked what aisle kleenexes were in I had to get outta there. The first two were good for a laugh. The third... not cool. Oh yeah and sometimes there registry is useless. But I still love Target.

Obviously all of you Target-haters don't have kids. I rarely went there cuz I could afford Boston Store. Now Target and Wal-Mart are my new best friends! Would buy groceries there too if the stores in town carried them....of course they are not perfect, but nobody is. Almost always have what I want though and why pay more for the same item at Walgreens? Or Boston Store? Wal-Mart around HERE is a bit mis-managed, trashy, messy, crap in the aisles, falling off the hangers...so I prefer Target, but in other places Wal-Mart is set up nicely so no different.

I find Target to have a bit more quality to their products (clothes, their brand of food, etc). Walmart is great if you need new tires and a pocket T shirt. The big division for me is Customer Serivice. I have found Customer Service at Target to be adequate--never stellar (c'mon folks, its a discount store! Wallyworld on the other hand is completely useless. People walking around with shirts that say "how can I help you" that have no want or clue on how to actually do what their shirts ask. Not to mention 50 people waiting for 2 registers that are open (and one doing a price check). That's not even taking into consideration the Wal's horrible business ethics and employee welfare. I don't think it's a matter of being snobbish--I like to shop in stores that are organized well maintained, and helpful. I don't think that makes me crazy!

Target is a so popular because it has snob appeal. The mentality of the average Target shopper is thus: I am upper management and have an advanced degree and live in a place like Whitefish Bay or Mequon. I refuse to shop with all that white trash and "other people" that use Wal-Mart. Plus Wal-Mart is environmentally irresponsible and mean to its workers. However, I still need things like underwear and socks. Target to the rescue! I can buy the essentials but not worry about the stigma of shopping at a downscale store in a downscale neighborhood. So what if I have to pay a little extra, I can afford it. I'll take Wal-Mart over Target any time. Wal-Mart is cheaper and, more importantly, open at 4:00 a.m.
