Your trip to the East Side will get a bit tricky, at least for the next week, since the Prospect Avenue bridge over the Oak Leaf Bike Trail, located just north of East Windsor Place, is closed to vehicular traffic from July 7 to July 14.
City crews will pour the east half of the new concrete deck and provide adequate cure time.
The street has been narrowed to one lane for several weeks. Northbound traffic on Prospect Avenue will detour at West Lafayette Place and route around the project via Lafayette, Oakland Avenue and North Avenue. Advance signing for the proposed closure is already in place.
Cecilia Gilbert, of the Department of Public Works, said that the contractor originally wanted to pour the deck on July 2, but was directed by the city to delay this work until after the July 4 weekend because of the upcoming fireworks display. Some signs had originally indicated a July 1 closure.
The bridge walkways will remain open to pedestrians.
