Passersby have noticed remodeling work progressing in the old Node cafe space at 1504 E. North Ave. on the East Side. According to sources the storefront will house a cafe and deli, slated to open within the next couple months.
A sign appeared over the weekend, announcing that the bar, cafe and deli will be called La Piazza.
Presumably the pervasive smell of smoke generated by Node customers will have been scrubbed away before opening day.
At the same time, work to dismantle the old Hometown gas station across the street has also progressed, suggesting that the intersection of Cambridge and North will soon look quite different.
Maybe sometime soon the water that has been bubbling up out of the street for weeks now will be stopped.

La Piazza deli cafe is now opened and I have heard the food & coffee drinks are great. They also have a bar and the decor is very nice,no resemblance to the former "node". Also it still has wi-fi. For anybody who is interested it is in the same space at 1504 e. north ave.
