Today marks the beginning of Downtown Employee Appreciation Week, coordinated by Milwaukee Downtown, the business improvement district for Milwaukee's city center.
The week-long event is full of special events, activities and discounts at local businesses in an effort to continue to build excitement and camaraderie among the Downtown workforce.
OnMilwaukee.com is a supporting sponsor, so here's a brief run down of today's and this week's events.
The opening ceremony is today at noon at Chase Towner. But, at 10 a.m. Metro Market is giving away 500 pieces of bakery while KEI Landscape helps sponsor a giveaway of 500 oranges. It's all at the corner of Water Street and Wisconsin Avenue.
At noon, it's subs and popcorn, courtesy of Cousins and Marcus Movie Theaters.
All week long, just wear a paper clip to identify yourself as a Downtown employee and you'll enjoy discounts at many Downtown establishments. The paper clip is your "ticket" for the week.
A full list of events is here.

Is this another week when the restaurant.com and Entertainment Book coupons are invalid? I know the Third Ward didn't honor any coupons during a previous Downtown Week. I found out after I was already there and wanted to use my $25.00 discount. So sad...too bad...for me. If anyone knows, please post it so that I stay away until this special week is over.

What do you need to do with the paperclip? I looked on the site and can't figure out what to do with the paperclip.

Personally, working downtown is a drag. Especially having to pay for parking in order to "work".
