Last July the Milwaukee Biodiesel Co-op opened at Future Green, a self-sustaining, organic living retail store at 2352 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. in Bay View, with a major goal of providing a local source of commercial-grade biodiesel to Milwaukeeans.
The co-op has just announced that it's now stocked -- 275 gallons -- with biodiesel that has a winterizing agent added to it. However, the price has changed, as well as how you obtain it. The member price is now $3.30 a gallon for winterized B100 and non-member price is $3.78 a gallon.
Fueling starts this Saturday, Dec. 8 and people are encouraged to email the co-op with how many five-gallon totes of fuel they want at info@mkebio.org.
"We are starting a container exchange program that is based out of a member's home," says co-op board member Jason Hass. "We will have pre-filled totes -- that means it should be as simple as coming to the house, dropping your empty totes off and taking the full totes with you."
If you do not have a tote, or do not bring a clean, usable tote, the co-op will loan you one for a $7 deposit.
