What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published July 8, 2008 at 10:35 a.m.

Zoe Batiansila was born not breathing and was revived, and then stopped breathing again.

Doctors began to test and try to find out why. Three days after she was born, the Batiansilas were told she had Trisomy 18 (or Edward's syndrome) and that most babies with this condition die rapidly. Most don't make it to six months.

Tonight, July 8 at 7 p.m., the Robbie Seay Band, a popular Christian rock band, plays a benefit concert at Brookfield Lutheran Church, 18500 W. Burleigh Rd., for the Zoe Means Life cause. The show will help pay mounting medical expenses and to help cover the lost income of Zoe Batiansila's mother who has tirelessly tended to all of her daughter's needs.

In November, when Zoe's dad Greg found out that his daughter had a heart defect, he drove back to work listening to Seay's "Shine Your Light On Us." When he got there, Greg jumped on his computer and commented on Robbie's blog robbieseayband.blogspot.com about his experience.

March came, Zoe was born and Batiansila went back to Seay's blog and updated Robbie on Zoe and what had happened. Seay wrote back on batiansila.blogspot.com.

Three days later the family received the news, Zoe had Trisomy 18. Seay continued his support for the Batiansilas, for Zoe and for the tough decisions that were ahead of them.

The Batiansilas and Seay, through tonight's show, ultimately want to help other families faced with this situation with the Zoe Means Life funds.

Tickets are $20 and can only be purchased online at zoemeanslifefor.us.
