Milwaukee Public Schools canceled classes today. The district made the call at 5:30 a.m. because, at the time, it was snowing, dozens of accidents had been reported and an ice storm warning was in effect until 3 p.m. today. The ice storm, however, has not yet hit the area.
Was this a good or bad decision? Are the conditions bad enough to warrant school closings? Surely, thousands of Milwaukee parents are left without child care and unable to work today. Or, is this a smart, proactive safety measure? Perhaps the bottom line is this: Would you want your child riding a bus to school today?
