It's time for Balloon-A-Palooza, the largest balloon art exhibition in the country. The event, held at the Mitchell Park Domes, features more then 100,000 balloons and runs Nov. 17 - 25.
Last year, the nine-day event averaged 1,000 visitors a day.
This year, the theme is "Bedtime Stories" so it aptly includes balloon sculptures depicting Humpty Dumpty, Rapunzel, Peter Pan and Captain Hook, Mother Goose and the Old Lady in a Shoe. All of the sculptures are created from latex balloons.
Artists from Sweden, Mexico and Canada assisted Carmen Ballering, a Milwaukee native and the balloon artist project designer, to build the balloon masterpieces. Ballering is recognized as one of the most talented balloon artists in the country.
On Nov. 17, children who attend Balloon-A-Palooza in their pajamas receive a free balloon.
The Domes are open everyday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Children 5 and under are free.
