This just in: Danny Gokey stopped for lunch!
We can't help ourselves. Every other media outlet is providing saturation coverage of Danny Gokey, so we feel compelled to report that the "American Idol" semifinalist stopped at Mason Street Grill before heading toward the Summerfest grounds. Gokey was running an hour behind schedule this morning, which was not a surprise. He's slated to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and sing the national anthem tonight at Miller Park. He'll also visit the Brewers broadcast booth in the top of the third inning.

Billy Bob Thornton, an actor who would rather be known as a musician, gave a prickly interview in Canada last month and it's become an Internet sensation. Here is the video, along with his explanation on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." It seems the interviewer screwed up by introducing Billy Bob as an actor, rather than a musician. Oh, the horror.

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley declared Thursday to be "Talk Like Shakespeare Day" in honor of the great playwright's 445th birthday. Although Shakespeare's birthday is not known for sure, many scholars believe it was April 23, 1564.

Whew, the council flip-flops and approves Zweig art
It was great to see the Common Council do a flip-flop this morning on Janet Zweig's flip-photo project for Wisconsin Avenue, getting what would have been a major Milwaukee flop back on the rails. At a morning committee hearing, aldermen were wowed by the turnout and by the messages received in advance of it from constituents.

"Night Work" opens tonight at The Armoury Gallery
"Night Work" incorporates 2D, installation and photographic art to highlight the personal passion and private work ethic of several of Milwaukee's top art department instructors. Aptly selecting a cross-section of artists showing at the Haggerty Museum of Art at Marquette University, three of the showing artists are also contributing features of the "Current Tendencies" exhibition.

Gokey advances on "American Idol"
As expected, Milwaukee native Danny Gokey survived another cut in "American Idol." Gokey, who drew a somewhat lukewarm response after his version of "Get Ready" during the Motown show Wednesday night, sat comfortably on the sidelines while Michael Sarver was bounced from the competition Thursday.
