The Milwaukee Art Museum's collection comprises more than 20,000 works of art from ancient to contemporary and is housed in a trio of unique structures from Eero Saarinen's 1950s building through a David Kahler section added in the 1970s and the Santiago Calatrava-designed Quadracci Pavilion.

The museum houses 15th to 20th century European and American paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, photographs, decorative arts, folk art, Haitian art and outsider art.

MAM's cafe also offers great lunches in a luminous setting with lake views.

Mark it on Your Calendars! 2014 Lakefront Festival of Art

The Milwaukee Art Museum’s 2014 Lakefront Festival of Art – one of the top 10 art festivals in the country – celebrates its 52nd year this summer. The festival, which features more than 175 artists, including jewelers, painters, sculptures, photographers and more, opens on the grounds of the Museum Friday, June 20 and runs through Sunday, June 22. This year the museum and its grounds will be open to Festival attendees from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Advance admission tickets will be available for $10, while day-of tickets will cost $17. For those looking to explore the festival throughout the weekend, a three-day pass is also available for $25. Tickets, which include admission to the Art Museum, can be purchased online at lfoa.mam.org and at participating locations throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. In addition to the variety of artists’ booths, the festival provides family-friendly activities, such as live music, refreshments and the PNC Children’s Experience, which features drama performances and hands-on art projects designed especially for kids of all ages. For adult audiences, gourmet food will be available as well as libations at the Milwaukee Magazine Wine Garden, which sits beneath the world-famous Calatrava-designed Burke Brise Soleil, and the Blue Moon Beer Garden. While enjoying refreshments, attendees can peruse a sculpture garden created by Hawks Landscape or bid on donated pieces of art at the silent auction, which closes Sunday, June 22.
