Inspired by the Walker's Point Center for the Arts' annual "Day of the Dead" exhibits, local writer and performance artist Pegi Taylor created "Skeletal Reflections," a one-hour show featuring performance pieces by William Sell, Renee Bebeau, Mark Escribano (pictured) and herself.

The show runs one night only, on Friday, Oct. 21, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. A $1 donation is appreciated.

During the show, Taylor performs "Altar Ego #3: Pen/ance," which is the third in a series of "Altar Ego" performances. Bebeau builds an altar to honor her dead grandfather, a beer-drinking, poker-playing guy with a heart of gold, and Sell personifies an atomic bomb.

"I felt that humans might want to know what the bomb thinks of us, so I convinced him to come to Gallery Night and speak up," says Sell.

Escribano, a Puerto Rican born artist currently working on a documentary called "The Super Noble Brothers," will perform "Red and White Dresses."

"There's no way for me to predict what people will 'get' from the show, but I suppose there's a likely hood that it may be something morbidly spiritual, that's more beautiful than horrific," says Escribano.

Walker's Point Center for the Arts is located at 911 W. National Ave. After the show, a Mexican band will perform and guests are invited to enjoy the rest of the exhibit, outside garden, mural, traditional colorful cut paper designs, fresh flowers and candles.

Day of the Dead is a primarily Mexican holiday when families honor the dead and celebrate the continuum of life.
