Potsie is coming back to his old Milwaukee high school -- well, kind of.
The Nicolet High School Foundation hosts a fund-raising adult "homecoming" on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 7 to 11 p.m., featuring '50s and '60s band the Doo-Wop Daddies and special guest Anson "Potsie" Williams.
The event is open to the public with tickets going for $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
In the long-running television series "Happy Days," Richie, Potsie, Ralph and the gang attended Milwaukee's fictional Jefferson High. The high school, including its light blue colors was inspired by Nicolet High School in Glendale, attended by the show's executive producer and co-creator, Thomas L. Miller.
The event includes a silent and voice auction, pictures and autographs with Williams, dancing, food and beverages and the coronation of a Homecoming king and queen. AirTran Airways is a sponsor and paid for Williams' flight back "home" to Milwaukee. Information and tickets for the event are available by calling (414) 351-7561.
In other "Happy Days" news, the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), representing more than 1,300 professional journalists, photographers and media relations professionals in North America, awarded VISIT Milwaukee the Aaron D. Cushman / SATW Gold Award in the category Best Publicity Campaign for a Convention and Visitors Bureau for "Bronze the Fonz: A Celebration of Cool in Milwaukee." VISIT Milwaukee received the award Oct. 10 at the SATW annual convention in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Last month, VISIT Milwaukee received a Destiny Award Bronze the Fonz by the National Council of Destination Organizations (NCDO), an industry council of the U.S. Travel Association.
