The mainstream popularity of adventure fantasy books is at an all-time high. And Milwaukee author Philip Martin wants to talk about it.
"Twilight" and "Lord of the Rings" are just a few of the adventure-fantasy series' Martin discusses in a talk at Boswell Books, 2559 N. Downer Ave., tonight from 7 to 9 p.m.
His newest book, "A Guide to Fantasy Literature," encapsulates the meaning, presence and importance of fantasy literature in today's society. Looking at the role of fantasy and horror classics, this award-winning author and book editor covers everything from "The Chronicles of Narnia" to "Harry Potter."
Martin was formerly the acquisitions editor for "The Writer Books" and currently works as the series editor for "The New Writer's Handbook" and directs "Great Lakes Literacy," a publishing and marketing firm.
