Gokey advances on "American Idol"
As expected, Milwaukee native Danny Gokey survived another cut in "American Idol."
Gokey, who drew a somewhat lukewarm response after his version of "Get Ready" during the Motown show Wednesday night, sat comfortably on the sidelines while Michael Sarver was bounced from the competition Thursday.
Sarver, a 27-year-old oil rig worker from Texas, was panned for his performance of "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," and did not get a judge's reprieve when voters ranked him last among the finalists.
"Michael, you're going home. Sorry," Simon Cowell said.
Sarver's companion in the elimination lounge was a surprise. Matt Giraud of Kalamazoo, Mich., won positive reviews for his version of "Let's Get it On," but did not win favor with voters.
In addition to Gokey and Giraud, the remaining finalists are Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert, Anoop Desai, Kris Allen, Lil Rounds, Megan Corkrey and Scott MacIntyre.
The results show on Thursday, which was pushed back a day because of President Obama's prime-time news conference on Tuesday night, featured performances by Stevie Wonder and Ruben Studdard and a duet with Smokey Robinson and Joss Stone.

"Is this your first year watching the show?" Actually it is....and your point? It takes about a minute to figure out why certain people have made it as far as they have. It takes another minute to figure out who is, by far, the most talented person in that group, and that is the part that is undeniable. Adam doesnt meet your "standards" because he wears nail polish? Not sure what hangin out with these guys has to do with anything, but no, i agree, wouldnt want my kids hanging out with MJ, but is he one of the best entertainers I have seen in my life time....No doubt! Is Adam the best artist on the show this year...No doubt! Check back in with me when its over...

"Well, thankfully for Adam, he wont be judged on his "outfit of the week", but for his undeniable signing talent." this is a strange comment as you yourself agreed it was now a "popularity contest". now it's a singing contest??? unfortunately for you he WILL be judged on his outfit, and his hair, his smile, his creepiness factor, his shoes, what he says, how he dances, how he interviews, etc. is this your first year watching the show?

Well, thankfully for Adam, he wont be judged on his "outfit of the week", but for his undeniable signing talent. Though I am pulling for him since he is talented and from milwaukee, if you want to talk about "cheesy", lets talk about the clothes Gokey wears on a weekly basis!

TosaJimBob...I couldnt agree more...this is a popularity contest! Michael was the correct one to go last night, so I was happy they got that right. With that being said, I was happy Megan is staying since she is so good looking, but you are correct, she should be gone in the next two weeks. Megan, along with Scott, are really products of the voting system. Without sounding harsh, would Scott still be in this top 10 field if he wasent blind? I think not!
