Danceworks Performance Company offers a variety of cultural events in May.

On Sat., May 3, Danceworks will perform two 10-minute excerpts from the company repertory at this public art show presented by Beauty Salon to benefit the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and Milwaukee's AWE (Artists Working in Education). This benefit takes place in the ballroom at Historic Turner Hall and features over 150 local artists from a variety of disciplines. Tickets are $15, available at the door. For more information contact Rory Kurtz at Beauty Productions, (414) 349-9557.

"Just North of Nashville" is a concert of new works and old favorites by the company's resident cowgirl, Dani Kuepper, who began her career at Opryland, USA. This show will be performed Fri., May 30, Sat., May 31 at 7:30 p.m. and Sun., June 1 at 3 p.m. at the UWM Peck School of the Arts Mainstage Theatre, 2400 E. Kenwood Blvd. General admission is $16, $9 students and seniors.

Every day this month between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., "Storied Images," an exhibit from two emerging artists, will be featured. The show creates drama through imagination in an eclectic exhibit of graphics and pen-and-ink illustrations by Erik Hancock from MIAD and Rikio Yamashita from UW-Stout. This will take place at Studio 1661, 1661 N. Water St.
