Quick bite: Pearadise salad at The Green Kitchen
I certainly don't mind ordering just a salad for lunch, but if it's anything less than spectacular, I find myself regretting the decision until dinner. Fortunately, there's a tried and true go-to salad for me at The Green Kitchen in the Milwaukee Public Market. The $7.95 "Pearadise" salad is just about perfect - albeit a little expensive.
Why Dining Month?
Someone asked me recently why OnMilwaukee.com created Dining Month, and why we picked October? The answer isn't that complicated, really, but if you're interested, I'm happy to share the methods behind our madness.
In search of the perfect pizza: Pizza Man
While I typically share the history of the pizzerias I visit, Pizza Man's story has been told, told again, and then told some more by every media outlet in Milwaukee. So I'll spare you that segment. In fact, I try not to blog about pizzerias who get their fair share of press, but I thought this thin crust pizza was worth blogging about.

Lunch bet: Mai Thai
I had never dined at Mai Thai, which currently inhabits the location, until this week, under its new ownership. I stopped in for lunch, where I had a great meal at a good price - $8.95 for appetizer, soup and an entree - and chatted with co-owner Eric Grethe.

My new Downtown office (not really)
Like you, I can't be everywhere at once. And like a lot of folks, I'm a creature of habit. These are the kinds of things I tell myself to justify the fact that after 30 years in Milwaukee, I only visited My Office, 763 N. Milwaukee St., for the first time today.
"Best of Dining" goes on a diet
Today we launched our 11th annual Best of Dining survey, and like every year, we expect it to be a big success. But 11 years is a long time, and to keep it fresh, we work on evolving the list each time we roll it out. Over the years, we've added questions, dabbled with new, fun and sometimes weird categories, and we've even broken down the list down by location. But this year, we cut 20 questions. It wasn't easy to go from 50 to 30, but there's a method to our madness.

Picture "Main Street in Small Town, USA" like you see in some of the movies. This is where Tom Halverson opened Bennolli's Pizza seven years ago, a small pizzeria that strives to use the freshest ingredients.
