| Description [edit] | |
|
Chandeliers, staircases and blood red walls coupled with violet and black ceiling beams make the 172-seat Maxie’s the perfect meld between romance and fun.
Maxie’s menu features dinner options with an intermingled Southern and N’awlins spin, all for under $25 an entrée. Diners can expect to see classics like chicken fried chicken, jambalaya, gumbo, ribs, and shrimp and grits for dinner, and for “blunch”—too late for breakfast; too early for lunch—Maxie’s will offer some egg-based dishes in addition to soups, po’ boys, and light entrees. |

(Also posted on the dining review) My fiance and I had a birthday dinner with my mother at Maxie's last night. Let me start off by saying they have the friendliest wait staff I have ever encountered in this city. It took me aback initially, it is just so unusual to have so many happy and friendly people in a restaurant. From the people who seated us to our waitress and other people who helped us, even when we left. Aside from the very friendly and prompt service, the food is very good. I ordered the BBQ organic tofu sandwich and my fiance ordered the pulled pork plate. My sandiwch was _huge_ and extremely well done. It was a smoked slab of tofu smothered in their BBQ sauce and topped with a tomato and coleslaw. A fine combination for any vegetarian (which I have been for six years). I could not finish my cajun fries due to the size of this sandwich. My fiance had nothing but accolades for the flavor of the pulled pork plate and she is very fond of pulled pork sandwiches. The size of her meal was also extremely large and she took the majority of it home. Since her and I have birthdays that are very close, we were both celebrating together. Our friendly waitress asked if it was someones birthday and when I told her why we were there she let us know that dessert was on the house for us. This complementary dessert was not some small slice of some boring cake but instead their fresh pies of our choosing. I got the banana chocolate coconut cream pie and she got the cheesecake special. Both were delicious and if they don't make those pies in-house they get them somewhere very close and very fresh. We will most certainly go back to Maxie's very soon. The entire experience was exceptional. -- One thing I left out of my talkback to the dining review was that the layout, design and decorations of this restaurant are all very attractive and pleasant to dine in. This is one good looking restaurant.

I dined at Maxies to celebrate an important event. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The server asked us if we were ready to order immediately after us sitting. Not even a minute to get our coats off or give a drink order. Then, we ordered soup, salad, appetizer, and entree. 1 minute after the soup was put down, our server appeared with ALL of the other courses at once. Even Omega's gives you time to eat your soup and salad before bringing anything else. And given we were at a 2-top table, the server never returned to clear any of the dishes. The table was PACKED since all courses came at once. We had to move the dishes to an empty table next to us. At the end of the meal, which only took like 20 minutes as the food was thrown at us, the bill came, we had ordered a small salad, were charged for a full size salad. When brought to the servers attention, we were told "you got a full salad and you ate it". When we responded with we have never been here, had no idea that was a full one, we ordered a small one, she then told us she would have to talk to the manager. I would NOT recomend Maxies...the service was insulting, and the food did not give me any warm fuzzy New Orleans feelings.
