For weeks, mail was piled up in the vestibule at Swank, 628 N. Water St. This week, brown paper covers the windows at this once hopping Downtown restaurant and bar.
Located in a storefront that formerly housed H.H. West office supply, Swank opened in January 2002 with a packed party that featured many sports celebrities, local and national.
In its nearly six year run, this sleek eatery (open only Thursday through Saturday) featured friendly service and food that received decent reviews. To this diner, though, it always seemed more bar than restaurant.
While we don't have direct confirmation on this closing since we have been unable to reach owner Trevor Trimble, Swank's phone and Web site are both shut down.
Stay tuned for more details as we receive them.

when was this place ever "once hopping"? the first 3 days they were open? And, yes, when a place disconnects their phone and shuts down their website, that means they are closed....what kind of confirmation are you looking for? a burning bush?
