What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published May 5, 2008 at 12:19 p.m.

My Bay View neighbors may kick me out of the neighborhood for writing this, but yesterday marked my first breakfast at the Palomino.

Of course, I've been to the 'Mino for dinner, drinks and Packers games about a zillion times. But until yesterday, I never tried the Sunday brunch.

I love breakfast, it's my favorite meal of the day. But if I'm going to a restaurant to eat it, it's usually a quickie and on the way to another destination. However, yesterday, I slept in and found myself ready for to eat just as the Palomino swung open its doors at 10 a.m.

There's something cool about eating breakfast at a bar. Unlike the frenetic pace of some breakfast joints, the classic rock being played on the Palomino's stellar jukebox seemed to wake employees and customers at an equal pace.

As the sun poured into the open doors and windows, the previous night's smoke quickly lifted. We were the first people in the restaurant, and another couple came in shortly thereafter, ordering Bloody Mary's the bar.

We just started with orange juice and coffee. I ordered the stuffed French toast, while my wife had eggs, toast and vegan sausage patties. With prices less expensive than your typical Greek diner, again, it's the peacefulness is what really makes the Palomino breakfast special.

Speaking of specials, next time I plan on trying some of the special omelets our waitress was just starting to write on the chalkboard.

As I'm sure it is for most of Bay View already, brunch at the Palomino could be easily become my new Sunday tradition.
