Restaurant owner John "Johnny V" Vassallo has sold his Downtown Monsoon location to his business partner at his Brookfield Monsoon. Vassallo says that the location, just off Cathedral Square, has closed and will most likely reopen as another bar/restaurant.
In addition, Mo's Cucina, 717 N. Plankinton Ave., re-opened today after a week of "fresh paint and a good cleaning" and some minor upgrades.

Alterra should open in the old Monsoon spot. There's a big need for more coffee in downtown.

I think that the Brookfield Monsoon is doing very well simply because of its prominent location along Bluemound Rd. The downtown location should have done better but it was tucked away on Jefferson St and didn't do all that much advertising. I do recall the first couple of times I ate at that location after it first opened that the food, for being Asian/Chinese, was rather bland and not flavorful.

I never heard anything good about the downtown location. I'm not surprised about this at all.

Interesting. But you gotta figure that Johnny V knows what he's doing.
