Brick 3 Pizza to open on Old World 3rd Street
Soon to come to Old World 3rd Street, Brick 3 Pizza, located at 1107 N. 3rd St., intends to serve you pizza and lots of it.
Using two massive pizza ovens, Brick 3 will have the capacity to cook 32 New York style pizzas in just five to seven minutes. Keeping it simple with counter style service, Milwaukee developers Rick Barrett and Tan Lo look to provide pizzas in volume, either by the slice or whole pizza, at reasonable prices.
"I'm of the old school thought that if you're going to do something, do it right," Barrett explains.
Renovating the space formerly occupied by African Hut restaurant, Barrett and Lo are renovating the entire two-story cream city brick building.
"It's an incredible building that we're restoring," Barrett explains. "It's going to look significantly different."
Brick 3 Pizza will stay open until 3 a.m. to serve the late-night bar crowd.
"If things go well, we'd really like to expand out the back of the building and add an outdoor patio with seating," Barrett says.
The space is currently under construction but Barrett, who is also developing the neighboring Moderne Condominiums on Old World 3rd Street and Juneau Avenue, plans to open late November.

I made a blog entry about Brick3 here: http://onmilwaukee.com/myOMC/blog/show/2819 Here's the text: So, I'm reading the Sheperd Express last week and I stumble upon another add for a pizza place claiming to offer authentic NY style pizza. As I'm originally from the Big Apple, every time I see one of these ads I say, 'yeah sure, they cut pies into squares around here'. I've been continuously disappointed. Yes, there's some good pizza in town, don't get me wrong. But when it comes to NY style pizza, I'm a little snobbish about the real thing. Enter Brick3, only open for a couple of weeks on Old World Third. It was their ad in the Sheperd that caught my eye. I figured, OK, what have I got to lose. It's close by. So, this past Friday, my wife and I decided to check them out to see if they're the real deal. I'll start with one simple word, YES! This is as close to the real deal as I have found living in Wisconsin for the past 13 years. Hallelujah! This pizza is good. While they offer a variety of pizzas, including stuffed, the true test was to simply order a 'pie', just cheese. While the bottom could have been a bit crustier, I imagine that a reheated slice would achieve that texture. Otherwise, it had the right thickness, chewiness to the cheese and that bit of oil that starts to drip out of a folded slice. That's the other thing . . . the pizza was cut into slices, not little squares. So I could grab a slice, fold it in half and chow down. My wife (also from NY) and I were so excited. I want to eat every meal there. Better yet, they deliver! So, if you want to try some true NY style pizza, give these guys a try. My reason for this extended write up? I want them to succeed so I can continue to enjoy this slice of my hometown here in Milwaukee.

A good idea. The pizza by the slice joints kill it in Madison late night. It makes sense on a street with a few hundred drinkers looking for late night food. Good stuff. Something other than 4 hour old hot dogs on a cart served by homeless people

I was just going to say that we don't have enough pizza joints in Milwaukee. Thank God :)
