Booing Billy
Bill Hall struck out with one down in the bottom of the second inning tonight.
And the fans let him have it.
They also let Hall know that they didn't appreciate his demand for a trade when he stepped to the plate. Entering tonight he had a .294 on base percentage; it's the second lowest for a position player on the team.
It's not a big crowd here tonight, but the boos outnumbered the cheers.
Sure, it's Randy Johnson pitching for the Diamondbacks. But the Big Unit is also a lefty, and Hall came into the game batting .408 against southpaws.
Brewers fans are long used to mediocrity. But this year, here at Miller Park, they're not going to take it lying down. These are fans who know a thing or two about baseball.
And they know that demanding a trade when you're batting a cool .162 against righties isn't a particularly good way to increase your value to opposing teams.

Billy Hall doesn't deserve the boos. Dude's switched positions, what, three times now in the last two years to accommodate management's changing plans. He's got a point that it's a little unfair to cut his playing time after all that. Who on the team hasn't been struggling this season? It's only natural that he feels like he's due a little slack. Yes, he makes a lot of money, so he has no right to complain, so on and so forth. But doesn't that actually add weight to the argument for a trade: "You're paying me all this cash, and you're not going to let me contribute as much as possible?" Also, I just like yelling the name really fast: BillyHall! Try it. It's fun.

I hope they do trade Hall just so I can hear the Russell Branyan apologists when they realize that maybe things weren't so bad with Billy. Say what you will about Hall, but at least he hasn't been traded by Tampa Bay for two low level prospects in the middle of a 100+ loss season. Russell "Walk On Water" Branyan has.

If the player is not loyal to his team the fans lose all respect for you.
