Even though some Milwaukeeans claim La Fuente lost its charm after it expanded, it's still the city's hot spot for Mexican food, according to OnMilwaukee.com readers.

The massive restaurant is packed on the weekends, and occasionally on weeknights as well. The bottomless baskets of tortilla chips, colorful margaritas and consistently decent food have kept La Fuente in Milwaukee's fiesta zone for many years.

Botanas, just a block south of La Fuente, nabbed a close second in OnMilwaukee.com's poll. Both of the restaurants have a similar vibe and menu, although many local diners have strong opinions as to which place is better.
