Once again, Trocadero takes top honors for "best brunch." |

The votes are in, and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2009. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.
Despite the fact that we gave readers more choices than ever in this year's list for best brunch (nearly 30), Trocadero again walked away with the win. And that's considering that 200 votes alone were cast for "other," and Troc beat runner up Comet Café by a full two percentage points.
In other words, Trocadero, 1758 N. Water St., must be doing something right.
With a year-round patio and a delicious weekend brunch that is served from 9 a.m., the French theme carries over to that wonderful meal between breakfast and lunch.
Their menu contains specialties like crepes and quiches, but there are also sandwiches, nearly a dozen egg-fueled dishes, along with fruit plates, waffles, French toast and more.
And don't forget Trocadero's extensive Bloody Mary selection, either.
If it's warm enough, enjoy brunch near the fountain on the patio. If not, Troc is lovely inside, too.

I agree with the voters of OMC...and Trocadero does have an amazing Brunch! I love the staff, the management, and most of all, the FOOD...! Also...if you haven't noticed when you visit Trocadero...but they have numerous awards hanging all over the place from multiple outlets! I don't know if you've ever heard the saying...those who are not on top only want to knock you off your pedestal...thats what these comments sound like...!

Really? I am not in agreement here either. There are so many places that serve better brunch (and service) in Milwaukee than Trocadero. The brunch is greasy, the service is slow and the ingredients do not compare to alternative brunch spots such as Roots or The Knick....and the latter two restaurants are not more expensive options.

Not in agreement here... the food is nothing special, and the waitstaff is slower than old people having sex, and about as forgetful. Personally, I don't go to Trocadero or Cafe Hollander because of the bad experiences I've had. Its almost a given that something will be REALLY wrong every time. Once they completely forgot to put my order in.

How is it possible that Roots is #18?! I am sorry, Trocadero may be prettier (at least on the patio), but there is no way that they approach the quality, presentation, flavor or creativity that Roots provides. Additionally, Roots is committed to using locally grown produce as well as growing their own herbs and greens ON PREMISE. Perhaps people need to get around a little more before voting, or even more sinister is the possibility that Diablos Rojos had their own people voting multiple times. Either way, their food is s&%t!

Just had brunch at Brocach and it was excellent. I like a menu that offers not just breakfast items, but sandwiches and salads too and they had it all. (although I did have eggs - a great smoked salmon frittata) Plus, I love this place in the cooler months. Way better than Trocadero, esp. the food!
