The votes are in, and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2009. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.
Mom always said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Who are we to argue with mom?
When it comes to the morning meal, Milwaukeeans prefer The Original Pancake House, which has locations in the old "Coffee Trader space" on Downer Avenue and on the busy Bluemound Road strip in Brookfield.
The Original Pancake House won first place in our readers' poll on the strength of its signature items like the apple pancake, melt-in-your-mouth crepes, fluffy omelets and sugary, air-filled Dutch Baby pastry.
A an East Side staple -- Beans & Barley -- edged out a win for second place over the Milwaukee classic, George Webb, with the ever-familiar Ma Fischer's finishing fourth.

George Webb #3? Webbies always has the best breakfast around always hot and fresh. Pancake house is good but pricey...

I was seriously disappointed in OPH. Really don't understand all the buzz. Plus, they don't have Bloody Marys. That's just wrong.

"It's a chain, right?" So? Locally owned restaurants don't have a lock on good food and service--and the Original Pancake House has both. There's a place for all kinds of businesses here.
