Yesterday, OnMilwaukee.com ran a story about 22-year-old Tiffany Marciniak, a cocktail waitress at the Hooters Casino in Las Vegas who grew up in Milwaukee. Last evening, I received an e-mail from a friend of Marciniak's who said that she had been in a terrible car accident 10 days ago and was severely injured.
Marciniak was in the car with another Hooters employee, also from Milwaukee. The other woman is also very seriously injured.
According to the e-mail, the two women were "cut" from their car and flown to the hospital via a Flight For Life helicopter. A world-class spinal injury surgeon completed four surgeries on Marciniak, who underwent six other surgeries to correct her many, many injuries including a collapsed lung, broken femur, broken pelvic bone and more. She has months of therapy ahead of her and will have to relearn to walk.
"She's just in a world of hurt," reads the e-mail.
However, friends and family are saying Marciniak's survival is a miracle. Boyfriend Drew Deuster, who is in the process of opening new Milwaukee club and lounge Decibel/DeepBar, spent many days and nights at Marciniak's bedside.
Although we only spent a short amount of time with her, the staff at OnMilwaukee.com is deeply saddened by this tragedy. Milwaukee's rootin' for you, Tiffany!
