Venezuelan Ambassador Bernardo Alvarez visits Milwaukee on Thursday, June 15, accompanied by Luis Reyes Reyes, governor of the Venezuelan state of Lara, and Julio Chavez. mayor of the city of Carora. The trio arrives in Milwaukee to a proposed sister city relationship between Milwaukee and Carora.
The three will participate in a panel discussion hosted by UWM's Institute of World Affairs and Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, at 7 p.m. in the Wisconsin Room of the UWM Union, 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd. At 3 p.m. that day, the Common Council Chambers will be the site of a free reception in honor of the visit. Both events are free and open to the public.
