The clang, clang of the trolleys will soon be heard again around Downtown. According to Milwaukee Downtown, B.I.D. #21, upon reviewing options with Milwaukee County Transit System, enough funding has been secured to continue a free summer service on an abridged route.
The new route will be called "Hop n' Shop, Wine n' Dine" and will offer 20-minute headways as opposed to last Summer's 30, making the trolley an easy connector for grabbing a bite to eat, heading to a show or doing a little shopping.
The revised route for this Summer includes the Westown, East Town and Historic Third Ward neighborhoods while also offering convenient stops at many attractions, including the Milwaukee Public Market, Midwest Airlines Center, Milwaukee Public Museum, Jazz in the Park, River Rhythms, the farm markets, Milwaukee Art Museum, Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin, Betty Brinn Children's Museum, the theater and hotel districts and all of the street-level retail outlets, restaurants, spas and salons.
The trolleys begin June 6 and will run daily 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Wednesdays-Saturdays, through Aug. 18. Fundraising efforts continue in hopes of extending the service through Labor Day weekend.
