Molly Cassidy is relinquishing her role as co-owner of The Tool Shed, 804 E. Center St., after two years of running the successful, female-friendly sensual shop. Business partner Eilis O'Herlihy will remain co-owner, along with new co-owner Kara Prach, a licensed nurse and mother who has volunteered at the Tool Shed since it opened.
According to O'Herlihy, Cassidy is swamped with other commitments. She founded the Brew City Bruisers roller derby team, and is also a full-time student.
"Molly is stepping down as an owner, but she will still be very much involved," says O'Herlihy.
The Tool Shed was the first female-owned sensual shop to open in Milwaukee. The erotic boutique sells an eclectic mix of items. Recently, the shop has focused on its handmade craft section, including garters, knitted vibrator cozies, hideaway books, journals, lingerie, bags, secret pocket pillows, lights, tights, corsets, condom ties, metal art and a small selection of jewelry.
"Sex is fun and shopping here should be too," says O'Herlihy. "One of my original goals was to create a store that was comfortable for women without ostracizing guys."
Tool Shed's new Web site is at www.toolshedtoys.com.
