The Third Ward is one of Milwaukee's fasting evolving neighborhoods, so much so that sometimes it's hard to keep up with who's moving in, who's opening up and who's doing what.
In addition to Jing's, the new Chinese restaurant in the Marshall Building at 207 E. Buffalo St., there's a lot going on. Here's a short list of some of the latest Third Ward haps.
Jamie Wilke Interiors, the upscale interior design and furnishings shop with a signature location at 803 Genesee St. in Delafield, is scheduled for a soft opening at 311 E. Chicago St. on Monday, Oct. 15 with a grand opening on Friday, Oct. 26.
Fanatics Sports Central, a new sports bar at 185 N. Jefferson St., is now open just in time for prime Packers watching. Apparently, it's a sports fan's dream, with plasma screens galore -- including individual screens at private booths -- stadium seating, a game room, and an X-Box tournament room. Go team.
Hinterland Erie Street Gastropub, an upscale brewpub at 222 E. Erie St., has its sights set on the '70s. Since opening in late August, the brewpub has dedicated its back lounge to spinning '70s vinyl all night long. Dig it. Have you been to Hinterland in Green Bay? Similar to it original location, the Third Ward spot features a menu loaded with fresh ocean fish, shell fish, sushi, wild game and Kobe beef, and, of course, handcrafted beer and a world-wide wine selection.

Check out the lounge menu small plates reasonable prices, kobe sliders, sushi, etc. As to full entrees price reflects quality, I was not disappointed and felt the value was quite fair. Excellent cusine.

But have you seen the prices?? The least expensive entree I saw on a recent visit was in the mid $20 range (and others went well into the 30s). Once again, this is a place for an occasional visit but it won't be on the list of places to go frequently.

Hinterland has food you haven't had elsewhere. Interesting combinations, superb service and unique atmosphere. It is one not to miss!
