On Sept. 14 Milwaukee's shoe shopping options will expand thanks to a new hip little shoe store called Sweet Kicks. The store has squeezed into a small space at 2327 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., in Bay View, adding to the neighborhood's hot-spot reputation.

Sweet Kicks will fancy up your feet with fashionable brands such as Camper, Ben Sherman, Bronx, Le Coq Sportif, Irregular Choice, Onitsuka Tiger and Gola.

Co-owner and self-proclaimed "shoe freak" Jason Rosenberg says that his store will carry more than just funky footwear, however. "We'll also have men's and women's bags, some jewelry and a little clothing, too."

Rosenberg, who owns Sweet Kicks with his wife, Jen, and best friend, Mark LeVine, says that he plans to take a different approach to retail with his shoe store. Being in such close proximity to many Bay View bars and other nightlife staples, he'll try staying open late once or twice a week once business gets going.

"So many retailers close at night, but I'd love to reverse that trend," he says. "I'd be happy to stay open until midnight on nights that people are going out in the neighborhood."

When the store opens on Sept. 14, the hours will be 12-7 p.m., Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 12-4 p.m. on Sunday.

Sweet Kicks' Web site is sweet-kicks.com.
