Do you have to move to the coasts to make big money or can you get rich living in Milwaukee? Are you rolling in the dough, know people who are or have plans to strike gold right here in Brew City?
E-mail us at soundoff@staff.onmilwaukee.com and if picked, we'll post your response next Sunday. Only submissions that include your full name and where you live will be considered.
I do believe that we are a city that not only drinks more beer, but also prospers on it. This is Miller Town and Brew City. This brewing industry that we have here is enabling our city to make a lot of money for not only the breweries, but also the bars, restaurants and liquor stores that sell/serve it. We Milwaukeeans like to drink beer and we're not going to slow down anytime soon. So let the other cities try to play catch up with us! Cheers!

Drinking is a past time for most adults in Milwaukee. Therefore, yes we do drink more here than in other cities/states that I have frequented. I don't have a drinking problem,
but I am definitely a social drinker. When my relatives visit from other cities, like Miami, Atlanta and Memphis, drinking is one of the things they look forward to.
They are amazed at the many bars, clubs and liquor stores, which are not all in the inner city. For your daily convenience, we have liquor stores within the grocery stores.
We have made liquor as convenient as fast food restaurants.

Milwaukee is the drinking-est large town I've ever known. There are bars
within walking distance of most residential areas, and Milwaukeeans expect
alcohol to be provided at nearly any event or occassion. I went to The
World's Largest Brat Festival in Madison this last year and was SHOCKED when
I found out I couldn't get a beer with my bratwurst. It almost felt like the
Twilight Zone to me.

I moved out to Santa Clara, Calif. about a year ago. In Milwaukee, drinking is a part of everything. There are many businesses that enable you to drink conveniantly. Where ever you live, it is neccasary to only walk a couple of blocks to be able to find a watering hole, but here, you need a taxi because they are few and far between. Drunk food is a whole different ball game out here; there is none. Even the pizza places close at ten. I long for Jimmy John's, Oakland Gryos and Pizza Shuttle. Drink specials are few and far between. Nothing even close to dollar pitchers or the nightly specials at Axel's and Rascal's. Our drinking habits come under fire from the friends we made out here because people view it as excessive, but back home it is considered social. We got cut-off at a bowling alley after me and my fiancee downed three pitchers in two hours. Take pride Milwauke and drink one (or three) for me!
